SimpleSignPDF — Free Online PDF Signer. No Login Required.
SimpleSignPDF is a free, browser-based electronic signature tool that lets you sign any PDF document in under a minute — with no account, no subscription, and no software to install. Your document never leaves your device. All processing happens entirely within your browser using client-side JavaScript.
Zero Sign-up Required
Unlike DocuSign, Adobe Sign, or HelloSign, SimpleSignPDF requires no registration whatsoever. Open the page, upload your PDF, sign it, and download it.
100% Private
Your PDFs are processed using the open-source PDF-Lib library, entirely on your device. We have no servers that receive your documents — no cloud storage, no data sharing.
Legally Valid
Electronic signatures created with SimpleSignPDF are recognised under the US ESIGN Act, EU eIDAS Regulation, UK Electronic Communications Act, and legislation in 60+ countries.
How to Sign a PDF Online for Free — Step by Step
- Upload your PDF: Click "Choose PDF" or drag and drop your file. It loads directly in your browser — nothing is sent to any server. PDFs of any size and page count are supported.
- Create your signature: Click "New Signature" in the right panel. Draw with your mouse, trackpad, or finger (on touchscreen), or type your name for a cursive render. Choose your pen colour and click "Use Signature".
- Place your signature: Drag it to the correct position — typically the signature line at the bottom of the contract. Use the corner handles to resize it. The signature is placed on whichever page is currently visible.
- Add name and date (optional): Use the "Name" and "Today's Date" toolbar buttons. For multi-page contracts requiring initials on every page, place your signature on each page individually.
- Download your signed PDF: Click "Download Signed PDF". Your browser generates the final file entirely on your device using PDF-Lib and begins a standard download. The output is a valid PDF with your signature embedded as a vector graphic.
Your privacy is protected by design. SimpleSignPDF's architecture makes it technically impossible for us to access your documents. There is no upload API, no server-side processing pipeline, and no cloud storage. Your files exist only in your browser's memory.
Is an Electronic Signature Legally Valid?
In the vast majority of everyday situations — employment contracts, rental agreements, NDAs, freelance agreements, and service contracts — yes, an electronic signature created with SimpleSignPDF is legally valid and enforceable.
United States
The Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN Act, 2000) and the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA, 1999) establish that electronic signatures have the same legal effect as handwritten signatures for most contracts. SimpleSignPDF creates "Simple Electronic Signatures" (SES), fully valid under this framework.
European Union
The eIDAS Regulation (EU No 910/2014) governs electronic signatures across all member states. SES is legally valid for general contracts, with cross-border recognition throughout the EU.
United Kingdom
The Electronic Communications Act 2000 and the Law Commission's 2019 report confirm that SES is valid for the overwhelming majority of commercial and personal contracts under English and Welsh law.
Canada, Australia, India, Singapore
All of these jurisdictions recognise simple electronic signatures for general commercial contracts under their respective electronic transactions legislation (UECA, ETA 1999, IT Act 2000, ETA Singapore).
Sign PDF Without Printing
The old workflow — download, print, sign, scan, convert, email — is entirely unnecessary in 2025. Electronic signatures are legally equivalent to handwritten ones for most contracts. Learn how to sign any PDF without a printer →

About SimpleSignPDF
SimpleSignPDF was created with a single mission: to provide the world's most accessible, privacy-first electronic signature tool. Existing platforms charge monthly fees for tasks that should be free, require account creation, and upload your sensitive legal documents to their servers.
SimpleSignPDF does none of that. It's built on PDF-Lib (PDF modification) and PDF.js (PDF rendering), both open-source JavaScript libraries. All processing is local. There is no backend server. The system is architected so that we cannot access your documents even if we wanted to.
The tool is supported by non-intrusive Google AdSense advertising, allowing a completely free service with no watermarks, no document limits, and no account requirements.

Legal disclaimer: SimpleSignPDF provides Simple Electronic Signatures (SES). These are legally valid for most general business contracts. Some documents — Wills, land transfers, Powers of Attorney, and documents requiring notarisation — may require higher-tier signatures or wet ink. When in doubt, consult a qualified solicitor or attorney.
