Is SimpleSignPDF affiliated with DocuSign, Adobe, or any other company?
No. SimpleSignPDF is an independent project with no affiliation to DocuSign, Adobe Sign, HelloSign, or any other e-signature platform.
Free, private, and open to everyone — here's why we built it.
SimpleSignPDF is a free electronic signature tool built on one belief: signing a document should never require a subscription, a cloud account, or handing your sensitive data to a third party.
We built SimpleSignPDF after growing frustrated with the state of electronic signature software. Every major platform — DocuSign, Adobe Sign, HelloSign — charges monthly fees that make no sense for someone who just needs to sign a lease or an employment contract. Free tiers are crippled with document limits and mandatory account creation. And every single one of them uploads your documents to their servers.
SimpleSignPDF does none of that. Upload your document, sign it, download it. Your PDF never leaves your browser. No account, no storage, no monthly bill.
SimpleSignPDF is built on two open-source JavaScript libraries: PDF-Lib for modifying PDF files and PDF.js (developed by Mozilla) for rendering them in the browser. When you upload a document, it loads into browser memory via the File API. When you add a signature, it's embedded into the PDF's data structure entirely on your device. When you download the result, the final PDF is generated locally and saved via your browser's native download mechanism.
There is no backend server processing your documents. No API endpoint receives your files. Our infrastructure is a static file host delivering the HTML, JavaScript, and CSS that makes up the application — nothing more.

Legally Valid
Creates Simple Electronic Signatures (SES) recognised under the US ESIGN Act, the EU eIDAS Regulation, and equivalent laws in many other jurisdictions.
SimpleSignPDF is an independent project. We are a small team of software developers who build tools for ourselves and make them available publicly when we think others could benefit. We have no venture capital backing, no enterprise sales team, and no corporate agenda.
The project is self-funded through advertising revenue. This model keeps us aligned with our users: the tool needs to be genuinely useful to people who will return to it, because that's the only way the site remains viable.
We take privacy seriously — not as a marketing slogan but as a technical architecture decision. The system is designed so that it is impossible for us to access your documents, even if we wanted to. There is no upload mechanism. There is no server-side processing pipeline. Your files exist only in your browser's memory during the signing session.
We use Google Analytics for aggregate usage data (page views, device types, countries) and Google AdSense to serve advertisements. Both operate under Google's privacy framework. You can review our full Privacy Policy for complete details.
